Overview
The government of Maharashtra with Vikas Agadi has launched a scheme called Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Karj Mafi Yojana. It has been launched under the leadership of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. In this scheme, the Maharashtra government shall waive off all the loans that farmers have taken from the bank in the state. Those farmers who have been taking a loan before the 30th of September 2019 will be able to avail the advantages of such a scheme. As per this scheme, the loan up to 2 lakhs will be waived off by the Maharashtra government.

Under this scheme. Those farmers who cultivate fruits, sugarcane, or traditional farming are eligible to get their loan waived off. If they have taken a loan amounting to Rs 2lk before 2019 then they can certainly have this advantage. However, there are certain guidelines that the Maharashtra Chief Minister has issued already. The first list of the beneficiaries under this scheme was out in the year 2020 by the Maharashtra government itself. This list had all the details of those beneficiaries who have received the benefits already.

Eligibility Criteria
Not everyone is eligible to avail of the benefits of the scheme. The government has set certain eligibility criteria in which it is expected that the person fit in while applying. This includes:

Those farmers who have taken a loan before the 30th of September in the year 2019 fall under the eligibility criteria of this scheme. Sanctioned Loan Amount should be the same for joint account holders
Restructured Amount field should have the share of the amount
Savings accounts of the joint account holder must be different

In case the loan account of the deceased is there then heirs must be firstly identified by the bank.
If there is a single heir then the amount shall be processed in the disbursal account
