Overview

To better the health and educational position of the girls in Madhya Pradesh, Ladli Laxmi Yojana is an initiative launched by The Government of MP. This initiative seeks to prevent female foeticide. Ladli Laxmi Yojana also aims at preventing child marriages along with teaching a positive attitude in the conservative minds of the people of the state, towards the birth of a girl child.

Under Ladli Laxmi Yojana, a girl will get INR 2000 at the time of her admission in class six; the initiative also gives INR 4,000 to the girl at the time of her entry in Class nine. For her Admission in Class eleven, the girl will get Rs. 7,500 and when she will be doing her higher secondary education, the girl will get Rs. 200 every month. Under this scheme, the girl also gets an approximate amount of Rs. 1 lakh, which she receives as a part of her remaining amount, after completing 21 years of age.

Objective

  • The main focus of the scheme is to create a position feeling about the birth of a girl child, plus further to better her future in terms of education and health. 
  • To empower girls of the state, the scheme will be providing monetary assistance to the girl children of the families. 
  • To maintain the focus on the girl child's education, the expenses of her training will be handled by the scheme. In case the girl child drops out of the school, then she would not be funded under this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Girls whose parents are a resident of Madhya Pradesh and who do not pay the tax Of the Government of India will be eligible under this scheme.
  • Before applying, the system of family planning has to be adopted by the parents, in case of a 2nd child.
  • To be eligible under this scheme, the recipient family should attend the Anganwadi Center regularly. 
  • In case If in a family, there are two children and their parents are not alive, then the family planning will not be applicable. Instead, the death certificate of the parents will be required.
  • If in a family, the first child is a boy/girl and at the time of second delivery, twin girls are born, then all the benefits will be provided to both the girl children, under this scheme. 
  • In case a family adopts an orphan girl, the benefits of this plan will be given to her, taking into consideration that she is the first girl child of the family. 
  • The application of the girl child up to the age of five years can be submitted, in case of the death of the parents. 
  • In the case of the birth of three girl children at the time of the delivery, all the benefits of this scheme will be given to all three of them.

Features

  • This scheme is exclusively made for the people of Madhya Pradesh who do not pay any taxes to The Government Of India. 
  • In case the family starts paying taxes, during this scheme, the girl child would still be applicable to enjoy the benefits of the programme.
  • Under this scheme, only the first two girl children of the family are funded. However, in the case of twins, the third child would also be financed by the scheme.
  • If a family decides to adopt a girl child, that girl would also be applicable to enjoy the benefits of this scheme. 
  • The girl child must be enrolled in an Anganwadi centre, to be eligible for this scheme.
  • Rs. 1 lakh will only be given to the family of the girl child if they do not marry her before she turns 18 years in age. 
  • In case the girl child leaves her education in between, she would no longer be eligible to be funded for her educational expenses, under Ladli Laxmi Yojana. 
  • Only the families, who are Below Poverty Line (BPL), can avail of the benefits of this scheme.
  • To be eligible under this scheme, it is compulsory to have the official certificate stating her adoption, in the case of an orphan child.

Application Process For Madhya Pradesh Ladli Laxmi Yojana

  • To get the benefits of this scheme, the people will have to apply at the Anganwadi Center of their village or locality within a year of their girl child's birth. 
  • For any girl child who is the firstborn and is born before 31st March 2008, it is required to get a birth certificate and then apply within one year of the second child.
  • The necessary documents are needed to be attached along with the application. 
  • The superintendent of the orphanage or the protection home will have to apply to the concerned Project officer, before the girl reaches six years of age and within one year of her admission in the orphanage, in case of an orphan girl.

  • Regular Visits, guiding, and assessment of the scheme by the district collector consistently.
  • On the birth remembrance of Maharani Laxmi Bai, a special Gram Sabha is organized in all the Panchayats, to make the public aware of the Ladli Laxmi Yojana. 
  • With the help of the welfare department, mindfulness camps in the Seoni District and appropriation of the NSC declaration are organized. 
  • Leaflets, banners, and pieces of literature are used to publicize and promote the scheme
  • To accomplish the objective, the regular monthly examination takes place to stamp the advancement of the plan.
