Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana was launched by the Chief Minister of Bihar state, Nitish Kumar with an aim to promote Women empowerment, social empowerment as well as educational empowerment. The CM of Bihar state made some very important decisions that will help women to make themselves self-dependent. The main motive of the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana is to help protect the girl child's health, education, social status as well as self-dependency.

The objective of this scheme is to decrease the increasing rate of girl child mortality. The scheme will help to increase girl childbirth as well as immunization within the society. And along with this the motive of this scheme also to eliminate child marriage and cases of early child pregnancy in society.  The CM also said that this implementation will help encourage the protection of girl children from birth to adolescent age. The benefit of this scheme is available for two girl children from one family.

Key features Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana 

  • Aim: The motive of the government to start this scheme is to eliminate the chances of child marriage within the state. But if the girl is not following the guidelines of the government and decides to do marriage before maturity period or before completing her graduation then she is not able to get the benefit of this scheme as an amount of Rs 10,000.
  • Beneficiary:  This scheme's motive is to offer the benefits of this scheme to the 1.60 crore girl child within the state on a yearly basis. To make this scheme completely successful the government should declare a budget of Rs 60,000 on the scheme for each child for all the stages.
  • The amount of Rs 60,000 will be offered to a girl child for her education and other benefits for one year. This scheme also provides credit card facilities, Free Bicycle, scholarship programs, etc.
  • The government also provides Rs 2000 incentives to the parents at the time of the birth of girl child to help encourage girl child for education as well as growth and this amount will be provided to the parents after the completion of 20 years of the girl child.
  • Now the government made some changes in the scheme and announced that the parents of the girl child will be able to get Rs 5000 on the maturity of the girl child after 20 years.
  • The government declared that the parents of the girl child will be given Rs 2000 as her first installment at the time of birth.  After completing one year the girl child will get Rs 1000. And when the girl child name will be linked with Aadhaar Card with her Biometric for verification then she will get Rs 2000 from the state government.
  • This amount will be used for completing the process of immunization with Biometrics linked to the Aadhaar card when the girl child becomes mature.

Rewards are given after 12th final examination

All the candidates who will apply for this scheme will get Rs. 10,000 from the Bihar government after passing the final examination of 12th standard.

Rewards are given after graduation

If the girl child wants to take all the benefits of this scheme then she is not allowed to get married before completing her graduation. If the girl child is unmarried and completed her graduation then she will get an incentive of Rs 25,000 by the government.

As of now, this scheme is applicable to those girls who have married before completing the graduation but in Bihar state. Then she is also eligible to get Rs 25,000 on completion of her graduation. Eligibility criteria for Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana 

The scheme Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana launched by the Bihar state is considered as Universal scheme because of this scheme benefits each and every girl form any caste or society as well as religion.

  • All the girls who are studying in school or college or in primary and secondary level schools in the Bihar state are eligible under the scheme.
  • Apart from this if any girl student is studying in accredited madras as, non-accredited colleges, as well as Sanskrit schools, are eligible for this scheme whether they are from state or not.
  • To apply for this scheme the girl child must have residents of the Bihar state. Only the girls who live in Bihar state and are studying in a recognized government school in the state are eligible to apply for this scheme.
  • The scheme Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan is basically for those girls who are from economically weaker sections. The girls from the backward class are eligible to take the benefits of this scheme.
  • If in any case there are 3 or more girls in a family then only two girls from that family are eligible to take benefits of this scheme. Because according to the guidelines of the scheme only two girl children from one family are eligible for the benefits of this scheme.
  • This scheme is not applicable to those girls whose parents are doing the job in the private or government sector. If in case anyone member of the family is doing a government job then the family is not under this scheme.
  • If any candidate wants to take benefit of an amount of Rs. 10000 then she must have to show his 10th standard mark sheet as well as if the candidate wants an amount of Rs 12000 then she must have to show a mark sheet of 12th standard.
  • The candidate must have a bank account in which the government will transfer the amount of reward. 
  • The candidate must have an Aadhaar card to apply for this scheme.

How to get the application form for Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana?

The candidate who is eligible for the scheme as per the mentioned eligibility criteria is able to fill an online application for the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana. The registration process for this scheme is started from the 25th of July so the eligible candidates can register for the Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana by visiting the Official Website. After the completion of the process, the registration department will do the verification process. The name of the girl child is registered for the benefits or not, the information about this will be sent to the mobile number of the candidate. Documents needed for the application process

There are some necessary documents which the candidates have to show at the time of registration for Mukhyamantri Kanya Utthan Yojana. All the documents needed for this scheme are mentioned below:

  • Only the girls from Bihar state are eligible for the benefits of this scheme so the candidates have to show resident proof which will support her residential claims.
  • The candidates are mandatory to provide a copy of the Voter Card.
  • Now the government has made Aadhaar mandatory to take benefits of this scheme. If this document is not submitted then the application form of the candidate will be rejected.
  • As for the transfer of the money the candidate must have to submit bank account details. So the candidates have to submit official documents which tell about their account related details.
  • If the candidate is taking advantage of the scheme then the school certificate is a mandatory document along with other documents.
  • The candidates must have to show their original mark sheets of class 10th or 12th, as the amount of benefit will completely depend on this.
  • The candidate must have to provide her latest photograph to fill the application form.
  • Only the candidates who are from financially weaker sections are eligible to apply for this scheme so the candidates have to provide the certificate.

Sanitary napkin benefits

The state government also decided to provide sanitary napkins to the girls at the time of adolescent age. As before the amount for this benefit is Rs 150 but now it increased to Rs 300. The main aim of the government to implement this scheme is to help check with the girl child marriage as well as female Feticide. This scheme will also help to fill the gap that is increasing between the ratio of girls and boys in the state as well as in the country. The amount provided under this scheme will really be helpful for the future of a girl child.

Increase in the rates of Uniform 

The state government has made some changes in the rates of the uniform under this scheme.

  • The girls who are studying in the 1st and 2nd classes will be offered with Rs 600 yearly for the uniform. As earlier this amount was Rs 400.
  • The girls who are studying in the 3rd to 5th class will be offered with Rs 700 yearly for the uniform. As earlier this amount was Rs 500.
  • The girls who are studying in the 6th to 8th class will be offered with Rs 1000 yearly for the uniform. As earlier this amount was Rs 700.
  • The girls who are studying in the 9th to 12th class will be offered with Rs 1500 yearly for the uniform. As earlier this amount was Rs 1000.
