Overview 

The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme was launched for skill training of the students. This scheme is for the Diploma or Graduate or engineering and technology students. The Board of Apprenticeship and Training or Practical Training will function as the nodal department under the NATS program. Background

The scheme will provide technical skills to the students, along with all the necessary education regarding their trade. The students will be trained in the organization. They will receive both practical and theoretical knowledge. However, the trainers will decide if the students are ready for a full-time job or not. The organization or the employer will give half of the whole stipend amount to the trainees, which means the Government will pay the other half. In short, both the Government and the Organisation will pay the stipend amount to the qualified students.

The students will learn various skills related to their trade along with work ethics, culture, organizational behaviour and everything about working in a company. Any student who is older than 16 years can apply for this scheme.

Objective 

The Union Government, under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, wants to increase more employment opportunities for the youth. This scheme will help in making the students healthy, self-reliant and efficient. To achieve this objective, the Government has launched the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme. The programme is operating under the Board of Apprenticeship and Training (BOAT) or Board of Practical Training (BOPT).
