One Nation One Ration Card

Overview

The concept of one ration card seems to have been beneficial for many people till now. The approach for this has been quite positive and looking at such responses there is no doubt that in future encouragement for such an option will be more. It is one of those four citizen-based reforms which is said to be identified by the expenditure department. The One Nation One Ration Card Online department also lets us get the additional borrowing of 0.25% done for the gross state domestic product that highlights the finishing of the system implementation which then translates to extra borrowing permission of Rs 37600 crore. This scheme was launched on a trial basis initially in four states by that year 20919 by the Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan. The focus of the system is to offer food security and ration for those migrating workers and their respective families under the national food security act and as per other schemes.

What is the one ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ system?

According to the act of 2013 of National food security, nearly 81 crores of the people are entitled to purchase the subsidized food gran which is rice at Rs 3/kg, wheat at Rs 2/kg, and coarse grains at Re 1/kg from their respective fair price shop of the targeted public distribution system.  SO far more than 23 crores of the ration cards are already issued to nearly 80 crores of the NFSA beneficiaries on different UTs and states.

In the current scenario, a ration cardholder has the right to purchase the food grain only from the FPS which is assigned to the person in the locality where the person is residing. But this shall change with the emergence of the one nation one ration card solution since it is operational at the national level.

How does it really work?

Imagine a beneficiary is living in the district of Basti located in Uttar Pradesh and migrates to Mumbai for some work purpose. Since she is no longer able to buy the food grains from the Mumbai-based PDS shop.

But if the person has got One Nation Ration Card Scheme Apply system then it would be possible for the person to shot from any FPS store across not just Mumbai but the country

This One Nation Ration Card Scheme depends on the technological solution that will help in identifying the beneficiary using the authentication be made in a biometric manner on the device called electronic option of sale which is installed at the FPSs. This would let the person buy the food grains quantity to which the person is entitled under the NFSA

States where implementation of One nation One ratio card is done

Union minister ram Vilas Paswan had come up with this pilot project only in four states in the year 2019. But from 2021, this scheme was bought into implementation in other states of the country as well. This includes:

  • Madhya Pradesh

  • Maharashtra

  • Goa

The government has come up with a standard form for such cards that has been now called the one nation one ration card system. In this scheme, the citizen of the country no matter where he is residing is entitled to get the shop from PDS shop no matter from any corner of the country. Post this implementation this system of the card will be applicable for the whole country.

Objectives of the 'One Nation, One Ration Card Scheme

The primary motive of this scheme is to offer adequate food grains to the poor sector of the country across the country at an affordable price.

In India, there are more than 80 crore beneficiaries who are entitled to get subsidized food and grain under the act of 2013 in the national food security. But for those 80 crores of beneficiaries, only 23 crore ration cards are issued in different states and Union Territories of the country

The scheme would make sure there is sufficient food grain available to those poor workers who tend to migrate often from their home district

It will lessen down the hunger death independence that is quite at large in India that shall further improvise the Indian ranking in the Global Hunger Index ranking

Conclusion

There is no doubt that with such steps migrant workers will be more at the benefits. They at least would be able to purchase the food at affordable rates no matter whether they shift for the work.
