The Samagra Shiksha Scheme is an initiative by the Government of India for the education sector. This scheme is for schools reaching from preschool to class twelve. The program was launched to improve effectiveness in schools by providing equal opportunities in learning and schooling. 

The Samagra Shiksha Scheme consists of these three schemes:

  • Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan
  • Teacher Education 
  • Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan.

The main focus is on making schooling a smooth shift from pre-school to primary, primary to upper-primary, upper-primary to secondary, and secondary to senior secondary level. The fundamental importance is given to quality education at all levels by using the two main factors: Teachers and Technology.

 Focus on Digital Education

  • Transforming regular classrooms into technology-based new classes for easy understanding in all the secondary schools of the country by supporting "Operation Digital Board" within the tenure of five years.
  • Using digital technology for the enhancement of smart classes, DTH channels, and digital boards to promote digital education.
  • Promotion of digital initiatives such as Shagun, Shaala Saarthi, Shala Kosh, etc.
  • Intensification of ITC infrastructure in the educational sector ranging from upper primary level to higher secondary level.
  • Extensive use of the online portal "DIKSHA" for the teachers to upgrade their skills and support.
  • Improvising the quality of education by making specific provisions and improving access by enhancing the use of digitalization- "Sabko Shiksha Achhi Shiksha."

  • Providing textbooks for children under the RTE act and energized books must be introduced.
  • Providing a stipend of INR 3000 to Children with Special Needs per year and giving stipend of INR 200 per month for girls with special needs from classes 1 to 12.
  • Full fledged promotion of 'Sabko Shiksha Achhi Shiksha.'

 Importance on Skill Development

  • The extended promotion of vocational skills will be extended at the upper primary level.
  • Enhancing vocational education as an essential part of the project at the secondary phase.
  • Earlier, the professional training was limited to 9-12 classes, which will start from level 6, and it will be made more industry-oriented and more practical.
  • Boost emphasis on "Kaushal Vikas'.

Emphasis on Sports and Physical Education

  • All the schools will receive sports equipment under this scheme.
  • Sports and Physical education will be an essential part of this project.
  • Focus on 'Khelo India'
