Overview

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is a program launched by the Government of India as a t's flagship program them for the achievement of Universalization of Elementary Education (UEE).  According to the 86th amendment in the constitution of India, it is a fundamental Right to get Free and Compulsory Education, for the Children of the age group of 6-14 years. To fulfil the needs of 192 Million. Children in 1.1 million habitations, the Government of India, are implementing Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan along with the State Governments.

Background

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan aims to open new schools in place which don't have them. It also aims at providing better facilities and improving the infrastructure of the existing schools by adding more classrooms, washrooms, water Tanks, maintenance grants and grants for the improvement of the school.

Teachers are also being provided with appropriate pieces of training, to increase the capacity and the development of the teachers, which will further Nourish the academic support structure and create a better and adequate system of learning. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan also has a particular emphasis on the education of girls and children with special needs. The program aims at giving quality education along with life skills and computer education to fill the gaps of the digital divide.

To promote the SSA program, the poetry "school chalen Hum" was written by Mehboob. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan also has a sub-program going on all over India. It goes by "Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat".

The main motive of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is to improve the reading skills, Writing skills, mathematics skills, and early education of the students at the right age. Rs.762 crore, i.e. US$110 million, was approved to the states, under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

Under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, students will get a productive environment, the students will be provided with appropriate books, and the teachers will be provided with pieces of training and the appraisal system will take place. The goal of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan is to provide quality education nationwide.
