The scheme's key goal is to provide safe cooking fuel to low-income families, mostly in rural areas. We cannot neglect the fact that the use of fossil fuels and industrial fuels has a detrimental effect on the health of women and children in rural areas.
The scheme's goals were revised in February 2018 to 8 crore LPG connections with expanded/relaxed identification requirements under the Extended (E-PMUY) scheme, which earned an additional allocation of Rs 4800 crore.
Key benefits of the scheme

The Socio-Economic Caste Census (SECC) list is used to assess eligibility for the relation.

The oil companies are likely to increase the duration of the EMI comparison scheme by one year as the number of cases in the country increases. Customers would no longer be required to pay an EMI to oil companies when buying cylinders as a result of this.
According to existing legislation, the EMI Deferment Program will expire in July 2020; however, according to rumours, the scheme may be extended for up to a year. Customers will get LPG connections for Rs.3,200, with the oil companies paying Rs.1,600 and the government paying Rs.1,600. Customers would, however, be required to pay oil companies Rs.1,600.
Customers can take 14.2 kg cylinders under the EMI Deferment scheme set up by the government and oil companies, and no EMI will be needed for the first six cylinders. However, the EMI for the seventh cylinder must be compensated. Customers who buy the 5kg cylinders, on the other hand, would not have to pay EMIs for the first 17 cylinders, but rather from the 18th.
