Background

The CMDA or Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority was set up in 1972 as the ad hoc body under Tamil Nadu and the Country Planning Act, 1971. It was created in the form of a nodal centre for the Town Planning of the Madras(now Chennai) City Authority and to become the statutory body in 1974. The chairman of this institution is the Housing Minister of Chennai. The CMDA was known as the research centre for the Anna University's centre of research.

The institution was previously known as the Madras Metropolitan Development Authority. It manages developmental activities for the municipality corporations and numerous local authorities.

Educational Qualification

  • Junior Assistant: The candidate must have a degree in a recognized university.
  • Steno-Typist (Grade-III): The candidate must have passed 10th Standard or S.S.L.C. along with Government Technical Examination in Higher Typewriter Grade in English and should have passed Government Technical Examination of Shorthand by Lower Grade in English. However, candidates who have passed Examination in Higher Grade Qualification of shorthand in both Tamil and English will be preferred.
  • Typist: The candidate should have passed 10th and S.S.L.C. Plus must have passed Government Technical Examination in Typewriting by securing Higher Grade in English and at least lower grade in Tamil.
  • Fieldman: The candidate should have passed S.S.L.C. An examination from a renowned school and should have the ability to ride the bicycle.
  • Messenger Posts: The candidate should have passed 8th standard from a recognized school.
