Airmen: Group X Trade

Eligibility Criteria (Educational Qualification)

Group ‘X’ Trades 

The candidate must have passed 10+2 from a recognized board or university with Physics, Mathematics and English with at least 50% secured marks in aggregate along with 50% secured effects in English. Or the candidate is required to have Diploma of three years in Engineering course (Electrical/ Automobile/ Electronics/ Computer Science/ Information Technology/ Instrumentation Technology/ Mechanical) from any polytechnic school or institution well recognized by the government with at least 50% marks in the whole aggregate along with at least 50% marks aggregate in English in Diploma or matriculation/intermediate if there wasn’t English as one of the subjects in Diploma.

Group ‘Y’ Trade

The candidates must have passed 10+2 from any recognized board or institution/ Intermediate/ Class VII or equivalent examination in any stream or subjects permitted by State or Central Education Board with at least 50% secured marks in combined along with English in Class XII or equivalent examination or must have passed two years vocational course from any recognized educational board listed in COBSE member with at least 50% secured marks in combined and at least 50% marks in English in the vocational course or Matriculation or Intermediate if there is no English as a subject in the Vocational Course.          

Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical)

The candidates who have passed 10+2 boards/ intermediate or any similar exam with Chemistry, Biology, Physics, and English permitted by any State or Central Educational Board with at least 50% secured marks in cumulative as well as in English in class XII or equivalent examination.          

Age Limit

The candidates who are born between January 17, 2000, and December 30, 2003, are allowed.       

Salary

The selected candidates will be given INR 14,600 per month during the training period. After the training is complete, they will be given INR 33,100 each month as salary and the applicable dearness allowance.          

Selection Process

Physical Fitness Test

In the physical fitness test, the candidates will have to run a total of 1.6 km under 6 minutes 30 seconds. Then they will have to do twenty squats, ten push-ups within the whole time to be qualified in PFT.

Written Test

The selected candidates will have to appear written examination as the same day of PFT or the day after. The test will consist of objective questions. The question paper will be bilingual, excluding the English paper. The test duration will be sixty minutes. The items will come from Moths, Physics and English according to the 10+2 CBSE Syllabus. The candidates are required to pass each of the paper separately.                

Adaptability Test 1

The candidates who will clear the written test will have to go through adaptability test on that day or later based on the local conditions. The test is taken to check the suitability of the candidate for employment in IAF.

Adaptability Test 2

The candidates who passed the adaptability test 1 will have to go through the second test as well. It is taken to check if they can adapt to the situations they might face in military life.

Medical Examination

The candidates who passed the second adaptability test will be medically examined in October 2020. The test will be conducted by the medical team of the air force and according to the rules and regulations of IAF.
