Overview

Technical Entry Scheme is a scheme made to get yourself the job of an Officer the Indian Army via Technical Entry.

Technical Entry Scheme is similar to UES and TGC. Still, in terms of eligibility, Unlike UES and TGC, for TES, it is not necessary for the applicants to apply after doing engineering from outside. Technical Entry Scheme allows you to join the specialized branch of the Indian Army right after your class 12th. 

The application process of the Technical Entry Scheme for the year 2020 has been started. The Indian Army has sent out an invite to all the unmarried males of the country, to apply for the job of an Officer in the Technical Branch under the Technical Entry Scheme. This job will further turn into a permanent position in the Indian Army.

The students who have passed their class 12th are eligible to apply for Technical Entry Scheme, Last date of which is 13th November 2020.

Background

Under Technical Entry Scheme, The Indian Army gives as the chance to all the students who have passed class 12th in the Science stream, to become an Officer in the Indian Army's Engineering branch, two times in a year, first in January and then In July.

Once the prospects are selected under TES, they are provided with a 5-year engineering course, by the Indian Army. Once the candidates complete their course correctly, they are given the Rank of Lieutenant.

It should be kept in mind that The Indian Army Technical Entry Scheme is only open for the male prospects of the country.

Once the period of 4 years of the engineering course gets completed, the candidates get a permanent place in the Indian Army at the rank of a lieutenant. 

The candidates also get combined merit by the three institutions of technology, namely CME, MCTE, And MCEME. 

 Eligibility Criteria

  • The students have to be class 12th passed in the Science stream with a minimum of 70% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics combined.
  • The candidates have to be passed in their class 12th from a recognized board in India.
  • The age of the candidates should be between 16 years and six months and 19 years and 16 months.
  • It is a must for the candidates to have a minimum score of 70% in their 12 class examinations.
  • To be eligible for the Technical Entry Scheme, it is essential for the candidates to be fit, Physically as well as mentally. The students should not have any disease or disability.
  • The height of the candidate should at least be 157.5 centimetres, to be eligible.

Selection Process

  • Once the candidates apply for the Army Technical Entry Scheme, a merit list gets prepared according to their marks in class 12th. Once the candidates get selected, they get called for an interview, and they're further shortlisted based on their performance in the Interview.
  • The Army Staff Selection Board (SSB) takes care of the Interview process of the Army Technical Entry Scheme. The Interview process is five days long, and during this time, the candidates are judged based on Psychological Tests, Group Tests, and then the final Interview.
  • The candidates who pass the 5-day long Interview go on for a medical test. The board again creates a merit list, which is the final list of candidates who passed the medical examination, keeping in mind, the number of vacancies. Once, the definitive list of candidates gets made, these are sent for their 5-year training course, to the three institutions of technology namely College Of Military Engineering (CME), Military College Of Telecommunication Engineering (MCTE), Military College Of Electronics And Mechanical Engineering (MCEME).

Vacancy Details

Under The Indian Army Technical Entry Scheme, there are a total of 90 spots vacant, which are allotted to the students who passed their class 12th in the year 2019. The sites will be filled by the candidates who have completed their four years course of The Technical Scheme 2020.

Training

The candidates who are selected, get a 5-year long training. In the first year of their training, the candidates are sent to the Officer Training Academy (OTA) which is in Gaya, Bihar.

The selected candidates are given five years of training out of which the first year is conducted at the Officer Training Academy (OTA), Gaya (Bihar). The Training at OTA is also called the Basic Military Training.

Once the candidates finish their Basic Military Training, they then have to take Training for four years which is divided into two parts. The first part is for three years and the second one for one year.

Phase One Of The Training

Phase-1 Training, which is also known as The pre-commission Training, gets carried out for three years. This Training takes place at CME, Pune, Maharashtra, or MCTE in Madhya Pradesh or MCEME in Secunderabad, Telangana.

Phase Two Of The Training

Phase-2 Training, which is also known as The Post-Commission Training, gets carried out for one year. This Training Takes Place at MCTE in Madhya Pradesh or at MCEME in Secunderabad, Telangana.

There are eight semesters in phase-1 and phase-2 combined. The candidates have to pass in all of these semesters. Once the candidates complete their Training, they are provided with their engineering degree along with the permanent commission in Army Engineering, which allows them to start the job as a Lieutenant. After two years of joining as the Lieutenant, the Officers get promoted and become Captain, and they then continue to get promoted to higher ranks, with coming years.

Salary and Allowance 

When the candidate is at the training stage at Officers Training Academy in Gaya and Cadet Training Wing, they get a stipend of 

Rs. 8785/- per week. 

Once their Training gets completed and the candidates reach their level of Lieutenant, the candidate receives a salary that is according to the Level-10 of the Seventh Pay Commission, that is, Rs.56,000/- to Rs. 1,77,500/- per month, as their pay. Besides that, the candidates are given many allowances and several benefits too, such as
