Overview

The Indian Coast Guard Navik has released a notification for several vacancies which will be held after the examination for the coast guard. There are a total of 260 vacancies in the post of Navik GD. The interested candidates can apply through the official website after checking all the details such as eligibility, educational qualification needed, salary, selection process etc. The candidates will have to go through written examination, medical exam and physical fitness test before getting selected for the vacancy. 

This year the total vacancies are two hundred and sixty for the recruitment. The selected candidates will have to go through a training session after they are finally selected. Selection Procedure

The procedure for selection for the Indian Coast Guard will be done in a total of three phases. The process involves

Written Examination

The qualified candidates will be selected based on the highest scored percentage of the marks that the candidates will obtain. The cut-off marks will be decided based on the total posts vacancies and the whole number of applications received.

Physical Fitness Test 

The candidates who are selected after the written exam will be going through the physical fitness test. They are required to do these following tasks:

  • Twenty squat up
  • Ten push-ups
  • 1.6 Km run in 7 minutes

  • Three copies of the downloaded admit cards along with the most recent photograph
  • 10th boards certificate original
  • 12th passed certificate original
  • Caste Certificate
  • Income Certificate ( required for the EWS category)
  • Proof of Identity (Driving License/ Aadhar Card/ Voter ID Card/ Passport/ Pan Card ) 
  • Certificate for the ST/SC/PwD/OBC certificate for the particular category candidates.

Minimum Relaxation in Cut Off

The recruitment for Indian Coast Guard will provide relaxation of 5% with a minimum cut off to:

  • ST/SC candidates
  • National level sports personnel who secured 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in any sports.
  • Wards of the Coast Guard Uniform Personnel who passed away while servicing the organization.

Training 

The selected candidates will go through training for the Navik (GD) post. They will receive appropriate training for almost twenty-four weeks in INC Chilka. After that, the Navik GDs will be deputed for the afloat training with the duration of three months, and then they will receive Cadre training as well. The training period might change as well, and it can be for 4-6 months. The training will start in August 2021.

The sailors, officers and the other employees of the Indian Coast Guard primarily deal with the various challenges of the ocean. They operate from aircraft and ships and deal with the protection for the Indian maritime interests.

Salary

The officers who will be hired for the Navik GD posts in the Indian Coast Guard will be offered the basic salary of INR 21700 which is paying level-3, and they will receive dearness allowance and other allowances.
