Overview

  • National Testing Agency (NTA) has been established as a premier, specialist, autonomous and self-sustained testing organization to conduct entrance examinations for admission/fellowship in higher educational institutions. Assessing the competence of candidates for admissions and recruitment has always been a challenge in terms of matching with research-based international standards, efficiency, transparency and error-free delivery. The National Testing Agency is entrusted to address all such issues using best in every field, from test preparation, to test delivery and to test marking.
  • Lakhs of students are waiting for NEET 2021 entrance exam results to be declared soon As per media reports, National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the NEET UG Result 2021 by October 30. However, there has been no official confirmation regarding the NEET-UG result date 2021 yet.
  • It is expected that NTA will release the NEET 2021 entrance exam final answer key and NEET 2021 entrance exam results at the same time. Notably, the NEET 2021 entrance exam was conducted across the country on September 12 in offline mode at over 3,800 centres.
  • It is also important to note that the provisional answer key for the NEET 2021 entrance exam was recently released by the NTA and medical aspirants were given the time to raise objections till October 17, 2021.

What is NEET

  • The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts NEET for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, Veterinary, and other medical/paramedical courses in India. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is the sole entrance test for admission to MBBS and BDS courses in India. 
  • NEET is conducted once a year in offline mode. Approximately 15 lakh test-takers appeared for the exam. The scores of NEET UG 2021 will be used for BSc Nursing and Life Sciences Admissions. The number of NEET 2021 exam centre cities has also been increased from 155 to 202, which includes two international cities, Dubai and Kuwait.
  • The NEET-UG 2021 result will be announced in the form of a scorecard mentioning the cutoff for the medical exam. Aspirants who will qualify for the exam will be called for NEET 2021 counselling to be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). NEET counselling 2021 will be conducted in a total of three rounds, including a mop-up round for the vacant seats.
  • NTA will prepare the NEET 2021 merit list based on the NEET UG score. The NEET merit list 2021 will include the names of the candidates who have qualified for the NEET exam. Candidates whose names are included in the NEET merit list become eligible for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and BVSc & AH courses. Based on this NEET merit list 2021, further NEET counselling will be conducted for 15% AIQ and 85% state quota seats.
  • Three types of NEET-UG merit lists will be released by the NTA - All India merit list is also known as the overall merit list, AIQ merit list, and respective states’ merit list.
  • The overall merit list will mention the All India Rank (AIR) of NEET 2021 qualified candidates.
  • The AIQ merit list will mention the AIQ rank of the candidates which will be used for admission to 15% AIQ seats for medical and dental seats.
  • The state merit list will mention the respective state rank of the candidates which will be used for admission to 85% of state quota seats by respective state authorities.

NEET 2021 cutoff

Candidates have to secure a minimum percentile in the NEET exam 2021 to be eligible for further admission process. NTA will release the NEET 2021 cutoff along with the NEET result in the online mode

NEET 2021 Answer Key

  • NTA will release the final answer key of NEET 2021 anytime soon. The authorities earlier released the provisional NEET answer key 2021 PDF on October 15. The answer key of NEET 2021 mentions the solutions to the questions asked in the NEET-UG exam. With the help of the NEET 2021 answer key, candidates can calculate their expected score and also predict their NEET rank. In case of any discrepancy in the solutions marked, candidates could challenge NEET 2021 official (provisional) answer key till October 17. It is to be noted that the NEET 2021 final key cannot be challenged by aspirants.
  • To raise objections for the NEET answer key, aspirants had to pay a fee of Rs. 1000 per question. NEET 2021 OMR sheet displays the scanned images of question booklets of candidates. In case of any issues, aspirants can challenge the NEET OMR sheet by paying Rs. 200 per question. After verifying the challenges, The result will be prepared on the basis of the final NEET 2021 answer key.

Calculation of NEET 2021 result

  • NEET total marks are 720. NEET 2021 score will be calculated based on the marking scheme released by the NTA. According to the marking scheme, candidates are awarded +4 marks for every correct answer and -1 marks are deducted for every incorrect answer. The formula used for calculating NEET 2021 marks is -
  • NEET marks = 4 X total correct answers - 1 X total incorrect answers.

  • October 19, 2021: The neet.nta.nic.in 2021 results are expected anytime soon.

  • October 18, 2021: Any confirmation on the NEET result 2021 date and time is still awaited.

  • October 15, 2021: NTA has released NEET official answer key and OMR sheet at neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates can download the NEET answer key, response sheet to calculate their scores to be obtained in the NEET exam. The answer key and OMR sheet of NEET-UG 2021 can be challenged till October 17. 

  • October 5, 2021: The NTA NEET 2021 answer key will be released soon at neet.nta.nic.in.

  • October 1, 2021: NTA has started the phase 2 application form of NEET-UG 2021. Check the link above.

  • September 30, 2021: NTA will announce the NEET 2021 result date soon.

  • September 23, 2021: NTA to open the NEET 2021 2nd phase registration link soon on the official website before the declaration of result.

  • September 17, 2021: NEET phase 2 registration 2021 will start soon at neet.nta.nic.in. Candidates will have to fill the NEET phase 2 application form before the date to be provided by NTA.

  • September 13, 2021: The NEET 2021 exam concludes, answer key, paper analysis, available.

  • September 6, 2021: NTA releases NEET-UG 2021 admit card at neet.nta.nic.in. The hall tickets of NEET-UG can only be downloaded by registered aspirants until September 12, 2021.

Earlier, NEET 2021 application form correction window was closed on October 14. The previous deadline to carry out corrections in the NEET application form 2021 was October 13. NEET 2021 second phase registration cum correction window for first phase registration was opened on October 1. Candidates who did not submit the second phase of the NEET 2021 application form would no longer be eligible for the admission process through NEET.

The NEET 2021 was conducted in 3,855 centres located in 202 cities across India and abroad from 2 pm to 5 pm. As per reports, over 16 lakh candidates had registered for NEET 2021, which is the highest in the past five years. According to NTA, the maximum and the minimum number of test-takers have been registered in Jaipur and Kavaratti (Lakshadweep Islands) respectively. The difficulty level of the exam was termed as moderate by the majority of the test-takers. The Physics section was considered to be toughest whereas Biology was the easiest.
