1. PAPO (Postal assitant in Post Offices)

The advantage of PAPO is that you will be exposed to a large number of consumers regularly and will be kept up to date on the newest changes in the Post Office environment.

2. PASBCO (Postal assitant in Savings Bank Control Organization)

The work will be related to monitoring the work of the Savings Bank, as the name implies. A PASBCO, unlike a PAPO, cannot work in all Post Offices. Only Head Post Offices in the Circle will be able to apply. One thing to keep in mind is that PASBCO's current operating method will be dramatically altered in the coming days. As post offices transition to the Core Banking Platform, the nature of work will shift in the coming months.

3. PACO/RO (Postal assitant in Circle/Regional Offices)

The administrative wing of the Postal Department is the Circle/Regional Offices. PACO/RO is a separate administrative cadre, and those chosen are assigned to Circle/Regional Offices in the circle's major cities (maximum 2-5 offices). PACO/RO has the advantage of just having 5 working days per week because it is an administrative office (Monday to Friday). However, the working hours are longer throughout the day (9 PM to 5.30 PM). In this cadre, the nature of labour is likewise different. The majority of the work will be file work, and PAs will not be dealing with customers directly.

4. PARLO (POSTAL ASSISTANT in Returned Letter offices)

If the sender's address appears on the article, mail that is not delivered due to a lack of address is redirected to them. If not, it is forwarded to the Returned Letter Office. The Returned Letter Office makes every effort to locate the addressee's correct address, and if it is found, the mail is forwarded to the addressee. When the addressee's address cannot be found, an attempt is made to locate the sender's address by opening the letter. If the mail is found, it is returned to the sender. After detention for the required duration, mail that cannot be delivered to the addressee or the sender is disposed of. As a result, the task will be tied to this.

5. PAMMS (Postal assitant in Mail Motor Services)

It is critical for intra-city mail transportation between Mail Offices and Post Offices.

6. PAFPO (Postal assitant in Foreign Post Organization)

Deals with international mail sent through the post office network.

7. SARMS (Sorting Assistant in Railway Mail Service)

  • Sorting mail transmitted through the Post Office Network is part of the job. A post-office-booked article will be delivered to the RMS. The mail will be sorted at RMS according to pin code or address. A SA will not be posted at Post Offices, but rather in RMS (Railway Mail Service) Units located throughout the circle, most of which are located in or near a railway station. The advantage of working in SA is that you will be assigned to shifts and will frequently be required to perform night shifts. However, you will be free the next day if you work a night shift.
  • Shift work is common among SAs. 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. The final shift is 12 hours long. If you choose the night shift, you will be required to work every other night. After 6 p.m., each hour is computed as 1 hour 20 minutes. So, 6 hours from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. equals 8 hours, and 12 a.m. to 6 a.m. equals another 8 hours. So, if you work a night shift, your job profile gets credited with 16 hours of work, which equals two-day shift shifts.
  • SAs are only assigned to railway stations that have an RMS. As a result, their new posting location has greater connectivity and, most likely, better facilities such as electricity.

TRAINING (POSTAL ASSISTANT)

A 45-day training term is required for the position of Postal / Sorting Assistant (PA/SA). Baroda or Saharanpur are the locations for the training.

PROMOTIONS (Postal assitant/Sorting Assistant)

After 5 years of service, you can apply for the position of Inspector. This is an internal test consisting of four papers. After 5 years as an Inspector, you are entitled to sit for the Superintendent of Posts test.

Age Restriction

The age range for this post in the Staff Selection Commission's Higher Secondary (10+2) Level (CHSL) Exam is 18-27 years.

NOTE-I: Because this is a Group-C position, a central government employee who has worked for three years in a row can sit for this exam up to 40 years. Add to that the standard age relaxation afforded to reserved groups.

NOTE-II: For this position, a typing test is required. The typing speed requirement for English is 35 wpm, and for Hindi, it is 30 wpm. The typing test is a qualifying test, which means the results are not included in the final score.

How to Apply for SSC CHSL Postal Assistant Online

Fill out the SSC CHSL registration Form

Candidates must first complete the SSC CHSL registration form, which is available on the commission's official website. Candidates can do so by following the processes outlined below:

  • Visit the SSC's official website at ssc.nic.in.

  • To register as a new user, go to the 'New User Register Now' page.

  • Candidates can move to the next step by clicking the Save button once all of the details have been filled in. 

  • Following that, candidates must upload their scanned coloured photograph and signature in JPEG format in accordance with the requirements.

  • After that, candidates can submit the registration form by clicking on the 'Save Draft' and then the 'Final Submit' buttons. 

  • A One-Time Password (OTP) will be provided to the candidates' mobile numbers or email addresses when they click the button. Candidates must enter their OTP and then click the Submit button. 

  • The registration form will be successfully submitted after you click the button, and a registration ID will appear on the screen. 

  • Candidates' login passwords will be provided to their registered email addresses. Candidates should write down their ID and password and save them for future use.

Complete the SSC CHSL Application Form

  • Candidates will be forwarded to the application window after successfully completing the registration process. 

  • After that, aspirants must click on the Apply option and begin filling out the SSC CHSL 2020-21 online application form. 

  • It should be noted that the registration form's details, such as personal information, will be auto-filled in the application form. 

  • Candidates must complete the application form with information such as their educational qualifications, three exam centre options (in order of priority), and so on.

  • Candidates can pay the application fee for SSC CHSL 2020-21 either online or offline. SBI challan can be used to pay the application cost in the offline mode. The application cost can be paid online using BHIM UPI/internet banking or a Visa/Mastercard/Maestro/RuPay credit/debit card.

  • The application price is waived for women of all categories and male candidates from reserved categories.

  • Candidates' SSC CHSL application process will be completed once the application money is paid. It is recommended that all registered candidates print the application form and retain it for future reference.
