Overview

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), Ministry of Home Affairs has invited applications from eligible and interested candidates to fill in 1522 spots for the post of Constable in various departments namely Driver, Lab Assistant, Waiter, Cook, Gardener, Plumber, Carpenter, and Safaiwala, etc. of SSB. 

The application form will be released on 15 August 2020(expected date).

The last date to submit the application form will be 30 days from the release date of the application for recruitment.

Vacancy Details

There are a total of 1522 vacancies for the post of Constable in the various departments of SSB.

  • 574 vacancies are there for the post of Driver
  • 21 vacancies are there for the post of a Lab Assistant
  • 161 vacancies are there for the post of Veterinary
  • 5 vacancies are there for the post of Aya (Females only)

Eligibility Criteria

For the post of a Driver

The candidate must be 10th passed or equivalent from a recognized board and the candidate must also have a valid Heavy Vehicle Driver's License

 For the post of a Lab Assistant

The candidate must be 10th passed in the Science Stream. The candidate should also possess a certificate in Lab Assistant Course. 

For the post of a Veterinary

The candidate must be 10th passed or Matriculation Examination passed along with Science as his main subject from a recognized Board/University

For the post of Aya

The candidate must be 10th passed along with Science as his main subject. The candidate must also have a first aid examination pass certificate from the Red Cross society or the candidate must be a trained Dai along with one year experience in the respective field. 

For the post of a Carpenter, Plumber, Painter, and Others 

It is mandatory for the candidate to hold a Matriculation degree or equivalent passed along with 2-years work experience in the relevant field.

Age Limit

  • The age limit for the post of a Driver(Male Only) is 21-27 years
  • The age limit for the post of a Laboratory Assistant is 18-25 years

Salary

The salary if the candidates will be between Rs. 21,700 to Rs. 69,100 according to the 7th CPC.

Selection Process

In order to get selected, the candidates will have to pass this 3-stage process.

  • Stage-l consists of a Physical Standard Test(PST) and a Physical Eligibility Test(PET), both will be qualifying in nature
  • Stage-ll consists of a written examination that holds 100 marks.
  • Stage-lll consists of a Trade Test

Physical Standard Test (PST)

  • For the Male candidates, the minimum height has to be 170 cms
  • For the Female candidates, the minimum height has to be 157 cms
  • For the Male candidates, unexpanded chest should be 80 cms and expanded chest should be 85 cms and it is not applicable for women

The weight of the candidates will be proportionate to height t.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • The male candidates will have to complete 5 kilometers within 24 minutes
  • The Female candidates will have to complete 1.6 kilometers within 8:30 minutes
  • In case of race in Laddhakh Region, the Male candidates will have to complete 1 mile in 6:30 minutes and the Female candidates will have to complete 800 meters in 4 minutes

Written Examination Test

In order to appear for the written test, the candidates will have to clear PST along with PET and give all the necessary documents. 

  • The written test will hold 100 marks and it will be held for a duration of 2 hours
  • The written test will be objective type MCQ based and hence it will have 100 MCQs
  • The questions in the written test will revolve around General Knowledge and General Awareness, Knowledge of Elementary Mathematics, Analytical Aptitude, ability to distinguish patterns and to test the basic knowledge of English or Hindi language

The candidates who clear the written test will be selected under the relevant posts. However, the candidates have to be medically fit as well.

  • For the candidates of General, EWS, OBC categories, the application fees is Rs. 100/-
  • For the candidates of SC, ST, Ex-serviceman categories and for Female candidates, there is no application fee
