SSC MTS exam pattern

Candidates preparing for the SSC Multitasking Staff Exam must be familiar with the most recent SSC MTS exam pattern. The Staff Selection Commission determines the exam pattern for the SSC MTS exam.

The Commission administers the SSC MTS exam in two parts:

  • SSC MTS Paper I is an Objective Type test

  • SSC MTS Paper-II is a descriptive test

SSC MTS exam pattern Paper I

  • General Intelligence and Reasoning, General English, General Awareness, and Quantitative Aptitude are the four components of Paper I of the MTS Exam.
  • Except for the general English section, the SSC MTS Paper I will be bilingual, meaning it will be written in both English and Hindi.
  • In Paper I, there are 100 questions at 1 mark each, with 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect attempt.
  • The entire time duration of SSC MTS Paper I is 90 minutes for general candidates and 120 minutes for PwD candidates (cerebral palsy and visually impaired).

SSC MTS exam pattern Paper II

  • Only those who pass SSC MTS Paper I are invited to write Paper-II.
  • Paper-II of the SSC MTS test is a 50-mark descriptive paper. It assesses the candidates' basic linguistic abilities.
  • SSC MTS Paper-II is a qualifying exam, which means it is required to pass but the results are not used in the final merit list.

SSC MTS syllabus

There are two papers in the SSC MTS test. The objective type is Paper 1, while the descriptive type is Paper 2. English Language, General Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Awareness are the four components of Paper 1. SSC MTS syllabus 2021 Paper-II

Paper-II will be given in Hindi, English, and other languages listed in Annexure-XIV to Schedule 8th of the Constitution. In paper II, applicants must write a short essay or letter in any of the languages listed in Schedule 8th. This test is used to assess basic language abilities that are relevant to the educational requirements for the position.

English Language Writing Ability in the SSC MTS Exam

  • The English language writing skill component assesses a candidate's ability to write in Letter Writing, Essay Writing, and Precis Writing Format.
  • Writing a Formal Letter: You will be requested to create a formal letter with proper structure and details.
  • Essay Writing: Candidates must create an essay that is both clear and concise. The essay's ideas should be presented in a logical order.
  • Precis writing: In precis writing, a passage is summarised in a complete manner using the fewest words possible while still covering all of the key points.

When will the SSC MTS Exam 2021 be held?

There will be two papers in the SSC MTS Exam 2021. Paper I will be held from October 5th to November 12th, 2021, with Paper II dates to be announced later.

Does the SSC MTS paper have any negative marking?

In Paper I, an incorrect answer will result in a 0.25 negative marking. Only qualifying questions will be asked on Paper-II.
