Voter ID is a necessary document for people to vote for their preferred political party or candidate in elections. It is critical not only for the people but also for the government.

Furthermore, the Voter ID is used to recognised voters by constituency, state, and region. Unlike in previous decades, state election commissions have opened online voting websites to administer voter identification cards and the electoral process.

Elections for 294 assembly constituencies in West Bengal are scheduled for April or May 2021. For these districts, a voter list is being compiled.

West Bengal's final voter list for the assembly election was released on January 15, according to state Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Aariz Aftab. The review of the electoral list is currently underway, he added.
