  1. Visit the official online portal of Jharkhand Government – Jhar Seva https://www.jharsewa.jharkhand.gov.in/

  2. If you are a new user then you will have to register yourself on the portal. 

  3. To register on the portal click on Register Yourself 

  4. Now you will be directed to fill in personal details, Aadhar details, User id and password. 

  5. Now enter the captcha and then click on submit button 

  6. Once you are successfully registered, you can now directly login to your account. 

  7. To log in to your Jhar Seva account enter the user id and password you entered at the time of registration. 

  8. When you log in to your account you will a list of services accessible through the online portal

  9. Click on the caste certificate among the services.

  10. A new screen opens with the Caste certificate application form. 

  11. Make sure that you carefully fill all the required details in the application form.

  12. You will be asked about personal details, caste details, relation, address, and authorization information.

  13. Now select the Urban or Rural applying office

How to apply through CSC Pragya Kendra

Follow the steps below to apply for Jharkhand caste certificate through CSC Pragya Kendra: 

  • Look for your nearest CSC Pragya Kendra

  • Please report to the relevant office.

  • The authorities will provide you with an application. Please pay for the application form as stated by the authorities.

  • Submit the entire application, along with all necessary documentation, to the center's operator.

  • The operator will review the information and begin processing online using the machine.

  • The transaction ID for the application will be given to the applicant. Please hold it in a secure place for future use.

  • This application will be handled by the appropriate department in the same manner as it will be handled in person.

  • The applicant will be notified of the status via his registered mobile number, which he provided during the application process.

  • After receiving notice, the applicant must go to the relevant authorities and submit the necessary documentation in order to obtain the certificate on the stated date.

To apply for Caste certificate in person, follow the steps below:

  • The applicant must go to the respective revenue (DC) department authorities to apply for a caste certificate.

  • To the appropriate authority, submit the completed application form along with the relevant documents.

  • Authorities will make entries and provide you with a record number for reference after reviewing the attached documents and information submitted.

  • The paper and its contents will then be delivered to the Tahsildar.

  • The Tahsildar will request that his authorities conduct an investigation and check the information given on the ground.

  • Authorities will send their report to the Tahsildar after thorough verification.

  • The Tahsildar will determine whether or not to grant the caste certificate based on the report submitted.

The applicant's requirement for a certificate to be sent or signed over directly would be fulfilled. The majority of the time, handover in office will be used to obtain a counter signature from the claimant for the delivered certificate.

You can track your Jharkhand caste certificate status online by entering the acknowledgement number. 

Follow the steps below to track your application status.

  1. Go to the Jharkhand Nagrik Seva online portal

  2. Then click on Know your status

  3. Now enter your acknowledgement number and captcha

  4. Then click on submit

  5. Your application status will be visible on the screen

Download the caste certificate

The online portal also gives the common citizens the facility to download the caste certificate. Once you have been issued the caste certificate by the Jharkhand govt you can download it anytime online from their website.

The concerned officer will reach out to you through SMS to the registered mobile number on approving the caste certificate.

Go to the official Jhar Seva website and click on Download Certificate. Then enter your acknowledgement number, date and security code. Now click on submit. You can now download the digitally signed caste certificate in pdf format. 

Please make sure that you keep a printout of the caste certificate for future reference.


The online application process has made it easier for people to access their services. The caste certificate will take around 15 days to get approved. We recommend that you fill all the details in the application form carefully and double-check it before submitting it.
